Background
Ultrasonography is often the preferred initial imaging modality for urologic emergencies as it allows for rapid assessment of acute clinical presentations that require prompt recognition and management. This exhibit will help residents and the general radiologist become familiar with urologic emergencies seen on ultrasound.

Educational Goals / Teaching Points
Provide a case-based review of common urologic emergencies, their appearance on ultrasound imaging, and their respective management. Each case will be accompanied by ultrasound images as well as any relevant additional imaging modalities such as CT or MRI for correlation as appropriate.

Key Anatomic/Physiologic Issues and Imaging Findings/Techniques
Urologic emergencies, including Fournier gangrene, testicular torsion and rupture, ischemic priapism, and pyonephrosis can lead to permanent and life-threating outcomes. This exhibit will review the essential sonographic features of these conditions and others for radiologists to recognize and to deliver a timely diagnosis.

Conclusion
As ultrasound is often the initial imaging modality utilized, radiologists must familiarize themselves with the sonographic features of urologic emergencies. This familiarity will help facilitate prompt triaging for appropriate surgical and medical management.
