Background
Multimodality imaging evaluation of malignancies in young adults,
Educational Goals / Teaching Points
Review common and uncommon malignancies occurring in young adults, review multimodality imaging appearance of these malignancies, and review multidisciplinary approach and role of radiology.
Key Anatomic/Physiologic Issues and Imaging Findings/Techniques
Background and predisposing genetic and infectious risk factors of common and uncommon thoracic, abdominal, and pelvic malignancies in young adults. Indication for imaging affected organ systems: gastrointestinal, breast, cervical, ovarian, testicular, thyroid, lymphoma, leukemia, and cutaneous malignancy/sarcoma. Multimodality imaging assessment with pathologic correlation.
Conclusion
Pitfalls (Potential non-malignant mimics, Pseudo disease progression) and role of radiologist in multidisciplinary approach.
